Endodontics (Root-canal treatment)
Teeth too can get infected. When tooth decay extends deep into the tooth or damage occurs as a result of trauma, the nerve that resides inside the tooth becomes inflamed and has to be removed. The gaps left inside the root, called root canals, will need to be filled to prevent further infection. This procedure is referred to as root canal or endodontic treatment. This procedure can prove to be complex as curvy canals often present challenging scenarios, which should only be treated by an endodontist. At MDS, we are lucky to have our own very experienced endodontist Dr Vivian Huey-Wen Jeng who is able to perform the procedure on site.
From simple tooth extractions to complex treatments including the placement of multiple dental implants, specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons are often required to complete the procedure. For complex procedures, Dr John Ferguson our Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, together with our team of prosthodontists can tailor a treatment for your unique situation. We are able to carefully plan and execute complex oral treatments such as bone grafting, difficult tooth extractions and wisdom tooth removal as well as surgery to assist orthodontic treatment.
Oral hygienists clean teeth, examine patients for signs of oral diseases, such as gingivitis, and provide preventative dental care. At MDS, our oral hygienist Ms Suzanne Lightfoot Brown can help you improve and maintain good oral health by:
- Establish the status of periodontal (gum) health
- Remove tartar, stains and plaque from teeth
- Will teach you to use proper oral hygiene techniques such as brushing and flossing
